with the huge winter storm, the national weather service is now calling historic. cities like amarillo, texas, wichita, kansas have broken snowfall records. 45 million in 21 states are being affected one way or another. the storm is blamed for at least three deaths. look at this. it's even dangerous after the storm blows away. in kansas city, the heavy wet snow is causing roofs to collapse. nobody was hurt in this building. but the snow is also bringing down tree limbs on to power lines. in kansas city thousands of people are reported without power. george, what's going on? >> reporter: this is par for the course here in the midwest. this is the second time in a week that this region has been hit by a big winter storm and as you mentioned it has proven to be deadly storm killing thee people and we see as crews try to clear these roads, unfortunately more snow is in the forecast here. snowplows hit the streets of kansas city tuesday to wage war against mother nature. this city on the kansas/missouri border could see up to a foot of snow from the massive blizzard before it ends. lindsay spent m

this weekend. we're looking good as far as snow is concerned. look at new york city. two days in the mid to upper 40s. no complaints. the snow almost completely gone from that big snowstorm last weekend. we get colder this weekend, but it's short-lived. here's your valentine's day forecast. what a beautiful day from the southeast through texas all the way through the whole southern half of the country. and then the northern plains, we showed you some of those snow showers possibly around chicago, too. overall looks like a nice day for anyone traveling on the eastern seaboard. washington, d.c., near 50 degrees today. not so bad, mid-february. you're watching "morning joe" brewed by starbucks. . the first thing i ever did politically was in 1993, lead a tax revolt, pensacola city hall tried to raise taxes by 65%. and they tried -- if we don't raise taxes 65%, this was right after the clinton tax increases and the state. and i was saying this is going to be devastating for our economic development. well, the city -- every city councilman got up there and councilwoman saying we don't get 65% tax increase, the firefighters aren't going to be able to come and rescue your little doggy from the tree. when your children are going to walk down streets that aren't going to be -- and they went on and on, tumbleweeds are going to be rolling -- guess what? we killed the tax increase. you know what happened? they gave their 11 city managers a 35% pay raise the next week. how many times -- why do i bring that up? it ain't just pensacola. every time americans hear politicians on any level saying, you know, we've got to spend more money, or else the world comes to an end. they just don't believe it anymore. >> i have a list of the national horrors that are going to occur when sequestration takes
